Florida Panther

The Florida Panther is a North American cougar (Puma concolor couguar) population in South Florida. It is the only confirmed cougar population remaining in the Eastern United States. Florida panthers live in pinelands, tropical hardwood hammocks, and mixed freshwater swamp forests. They are midsized for the species, being smaller than cougars from Northern and Southern regions, but larger than those from the neotropics. About 200 individuals are left in the wild.
