Marking Maps United States USA Wooden Photo Collage, Travel Wall Decor - Etsy
These wooden United States map pieces are perfect for capturing your adventures in a custom DIY collage. They are individual pieces that fit together like a puzzle—all 50 states, including Alaska and Hawaii. Map grains and wood color may vary. Hawaii and other states such as the northeast may come tabbed together and are intended to be broken off of the tabs to be separate. We "tab" pieces to ensure all small pieces make it safely to you. Please note that the background and displays are not included in the listing. Lightweight material is used to adhere to a map, mat, print, wood slab, or whatever your creative mind desires. The thickness of the lightweight wood is 3/16". Please consider your space and measure first. Measure twice, order once. :) If you space out the states with gaps you will want to add more to each side. **The large is LARGE and is great for filling a wall, but keep in mind the larger the map the larger the photos will need to be. Texas on the original map is 10"x10", on the medium, it is 13"x13" and on the large is 16"x16". Hope this helps! The Orgin: The Marking Map was originally created when there was nothing on the market, so I used foam core and exacto knife and pain stakenly cut out each state by hand for my dad's 60th birthday gift so he could have a map with a lifetime of travel. I made these map pieces to save people from the exhausting and time-consuming task of using an exacto knife for each state/country and so the pieces would have a better quality fit. These pieces have also been used as milestone birthday presents, newlywed/anniversary gifts, retirement gifts, or puzzles in the classroom. Someone even displayed their national dog show photos! Display your state park trips, kayaking escapes, nationwide breweries, or ballparks. They could also be framed by themselves without pictures as a rustic wall decoration. ***TIPS: I used a scrapbooking wax pen and/or a Sharpie to trace the photos. I like Sharpie because it comes off a glossy photo with a Q-tip of rubbing alcohol. Some people are more tech-savvy and use a CriCut. I used rubber cement to adhere the photos to the wood. Some people like to use ModPodge or Polyurethane. To put the pieces to a backing, I used Velcro and adhered it to a chalkboard but there are other ways for sure! I work hand in hand with Routed 4 U in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, to get you a clean, laser-cut wooden map. #madelocal Happy Traveling!
