Amanita Mushroom Mittens pattern by Holly C. Watson
This design is based on mushrooms in the genus Amanita - particularly Amanita muscaria. I’ve been in a bit of a fungi obsession so it only made sense to turn that into a cozy mitten. Pattern includes charts as well as brief written instructions. Yarn & Yardage Fingering weight yarn: approx. 296 yards / 270 meters total fingering weight yarn (116 yards / 106 meters for ribbing/mushroom stem colour, 100 yards / 91 meters for background colour, 80 yards / 73 meters for mushroom cap colour) Sizing One size: fits small-medium adult. Finished mitten measures 4” wide at base (8” circumference), 5” wide at widest point of thumb gusset (10” circumference), 10” tall Needles US 1 / 2.5mm DPNs, 9” circular needle (optional). Gauge 11 stitches and 11 rows per 1 inch / 2.5 cm square in stranded knitting. Notions Stitch markers, yarn needle, scrap yarn. Techniques Knitting in the round, ribbing, stranded colourwork, placing yarn holder for thumb, m1, ssk, k2tog, kitchener stitch bind off.
