Enamelled brass chain of office for Gothic knight
Gothic Knight’s Heraldic Chain Enamelled brass chain of office/ livery collar Nothing shows your importance more than a hefty heraldic chain. First appearing in Europe in the Middle Ages and remaining a tradition into modern times, these chains meant a number of different things to their wearers. Also referred to as chains of office or livery collars, not just anyone wore one of these. One common usage was within orders of knighthood: knights would be awarded these to show membership within the order as well as rank. Collars were also used to signify land titles as well as offices held - in modern times, you can see mayors and other political figures wearing them in ceremonies and other official events. By wearing this chain you are automatically showing everyone around you that you are someone to be respected. This handsome chain consists of 15 square segments attached to one central round piece. Each piece is expertly cut from brass and well-finished, so you’ll find rounded, safe edges instead of exposed jagged brass. Each square piece has four rings welded into it, which are then connected to the other pieces with an additional ring. This method of connection means that the chain sits much nicer on your chest and across your shoulders, which is a common issue with large chains. The brass pieces are etched with a simple yet striking geometric pattern, which has been filled with bright enamel. Though the process we use is not entirely historical, we feel that it still produces an authentic, striking result whilst making use of modern conveniences. These modern technologies also mean that we were able to make this chain durable and solidly constructed. This chain was hugely inspired by the use of bright colors in the XV century, which was a time when bold pigments were discovered and more widely used. The colors on this chain can be customized to those of your heraldry, meaning you can make sure this beautiful piece matches with the rest of your kit.
