Description This is a commission done for me by jetfreak-7 Takes place in my AU 'New Start' verse seekhim.deviantart.com/gallery… Although Starfleet's primary goal is peaceful exploration at times it must also be prepared for conflict. All Starfleet vessels are equipped with weapons but some are particularly suited to combat or specifically designed for it. I. COMMAND CRUISERS/EXPLORERS These types of ships are part of the Explorer class, the largest and most powerful ships built by Starfleet. Although their primary mission is exploration they also also go on missions that require a strong Starfleet presence This has earned them the title Command Cruiser. They serve both in diplomacy and as front-line support in time of war. Members of their ranks have served as Flagships of the entire Fleet and as the most visible representatives of the Federation. DESTROYERS Destroyers are smaller vessels but are as heavily armed as an Explorer. Unlike the other ships which do exploring they are exclusively warriors. In wartime they are used as support for larger vessels (particularly cruisers.) They also lead groups of fighters and/or smaller ships. In peacetime they serve as escort or patrol ships Class: Saber Type: Destroyer Purpose: Patrol, Escort Length: 350 m (About the size of an Intrepid class) Crew 300 Examples USS Kampilan NCC 2702 V. ESCORTS Escorts are small but well armed and exclusive warriors. In battle they act as support to larger ships. In peacetime they escort transports, convoys, and in some cases, larger vessels.
