In a small bowl, combine salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, rosemary, sage, thyme, oregano, and onion powder. Rub the seasoning mixture generously over the entire roast. Place the prime rib fat-side up on a roasting rack set inside a roasting pan. Roast at 450°F (230°C) for 20 minutes to develop a deep crust.
